Translocal has two different rates. One for pickup, transport and delivery services and another for home and office removals services.
PICKUP, TRANSPORT & DELIVERY
For pickup, transport and delivery services we charge $50 per hour if it’s a one man job or $80 per hour if it’s a two man job (depending obviously on whether the load requires two men to lift and handle) PLUS $1.80 per Km.
A higher hourly rate applies on weekends and public holidays.
With the Km rate, if the job starts and/or finishes within or passes through the greater Melton area we only charge from the pickup address to the delivery address. If the job is outside Melton then we charge the distance from pickup to delivery and from our base in Melton to the pickup address or from the delivery address back to our base in Melton whichever is shorter.
With the hourly rate we charge a minimum of 1 hour. Jobs that take longer than 1 hour are charged in 15 minute blocks rounded up to the nearest 15 minutes. The clock starts from arrival at the pickup address and goes until unloaded, packed up and ready to be paid at the delivery address.
If the job takes us outside Melton then we may charge a reduced hourly rate for the leg (or legs) that are not covered by the delivery job itself (e.g. return to base).
Km rate is calculated according to Google Maps suggested route from pick up address to delivery address.
HOME OR OFFICE REMOVALS
There are a range of factors that effect the pricing of removals jobs including how far the move is going, how big a truck we will need, whether there are stairs involved, whether you need us to disassemble and reassemble beds and furniture etc and more… So the best thing to do is contact us for a quote so we can take into account your specific circumstances and needs.
But as a basic guide we charge partly by distance (Km rate) and partly by time (hourly rate).
As with pickup, transport and delivery services, with the Km rate (which is $1.80 per Km), if the job starts and/or finishes within or passes through the greater Melton area we only charge from the pickup address to the delivery address. If the whole job is outside Melton then we charge the Km rate for the distance from pickup to delivery and from our base in Melton to the pickup address or from the delivery address back to our base in Melton whichever is shorter.
With the hourly rate we charge $140 per hour weekdays (more on weekends and public holidays) from arrival at the pickup address until unloaded, packed up and ready to be paid at the delivery address and if the job takes us outside Melton we may also charge a much reduced hourly rate that just covers us for the leg (or legs) not covered by the move itself (e.g. return to base). The amount of this rate depends on the day of the week or whether overtime rates apply but will be quoted in advance so you’ll know what you’re in for. No surprises.

Also an additional base rate may apply if your move requires the larger truck
EXTRAS
“There are no hidden charges”. The only extras we may charge for are incidental costs and disbursements such as tolls, ferry fares and overnight accomodation.
WHY 2 RATES?
Because deliveries is very different work to removals. With one the loading and unloading time is minimal and you spend most of the job on the road. With the other you spend most of your time loading and unloading. The difference in the rates reflects the difference in the type of work and how the money is earned.

Payment options
Translocal has partnered with secure payment provider Square to give you more convenient options.
Mobile EFTPOS
Our drivers are equipped with mobile Electronic Funds Transfer Point of Sale (EFTPOS) terminals which means you can pay securely at the delivery point with your credit or debit card (or smart phone) just as you would in a store. We use Square to process card payments securely.
Tap and go, Apple & Google Pay
Yes our Square terminals also support tap and go touch payments with your card and Apple Pay and Google Pay through your smart phone.
Electronic invoicing
If need be or if you want to go completely contactless we can email you an invoice which you can pay securely online from the comfort of your own computer or smart phone.
Cash
Of course you can still pay with cash if that works best for you. We can arrange to have a receipt sent to you if required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I use Translocal and not just hire a trailer or a ute?
Because for shorter more local jobs we are usually less expensive than trailer or ute hire but even when we are not, you don't have the hassle of picking up and returning the trailer or ute. Plus you have our help to get the job done.
Do you only operate in Melton or do you service other areas?
We used to say that a job would need to start in, end in or pass through Melton but we will go outside our operating area if the customer is prepared to pay a little extra to cover the dead (unpaid) miles we would need to travel. The best way to find out is ask.
If I buy an item say, in the Facebook marketplace and hire Translocal to deliver it, can I get you to pay for the item and fix you up when you deliver?
Not yet! For the moment the purchase of the item is between you and the seller, we only deal with delivery. But we might have something in the pipeline. Watch this space.
What payment methods do you have?
Our drivers are equipped with mobile EFTPOS terminals which means you can pay using your credit or debit card or even with your mobile phone if you use Apple Pay or Google Pay. We also have the ability to send you an invoice by email which you can pay securely online from the comfort of your own computer or smart phone and of course we also accept cash.
