When you hire Translocal’s services you are agreeing to these terms, so read them carefully.

TERMS OF SERVICE
Translocal provides its services subject to the following terms of service.
Insurance & liability
If you require your goods to be insured while in transit then you are responsible for arranging your own insurance.
We are not common carriers and reserve the right to refuse engagements at our discretion. As such we will not be liable for any loss or damage howsoever caused during the performance of our services and by engaging our services you acknowledge and accept these terms.
Again this is not saying that you can’t have your goods covered. Just that you are responsible for arranging your own insurance.
Quotes & payment
All jobs will be quoted in advance and must be paid for at delivery unless otherwise agreed during booking. Translocal provides a range of payment options for your convenience. For more details see our Pricing page.
Dangerous goods
We do not transport dangerous goods. So if it burns, explodes or corrodes then it’s a no-go. You have a legal responsibility to advise us if anything within your load may be dangerous goods.
Load/unload assistance
Usually our vehicles are operated by one person so our driver may need assistance to load and unload heavy items. If there are very heavy items (for example, a fridge) and it is not possible for you to provide this assistance don’t fear. We can still do the job but we may not be able to do it straight away. it may have to be scheduled for a time when we can provide a second pair of hands. In these situations we have to charge an additional $25 per hour.
Incidentals
The customer is responsible for incidental costs and disbursements such as tolls, ferry fares and overnight accomodation (although I can’t remember the last time I went so far from home that I needed to camp out for a night).
OPERATING AREA
We are based in Melton so while we will consider all work offers, generally a job will need to start in or end in (or pass through) Melton. So, Melton to Werribee OK! Bacchus Marsh to Sunbury OK! Sunshine to Ballarat OK! Ringwood to Moorabbin NOT OK!
We may accept jobs outside this operating area if the customer is prepared to pay extra to cover the dead miles we would need to travel. For example, we often do jobs that start or end in places such as Sunbury, Bacchus Marsh, Gisborne, Taylors Lakes or even as far away as Altona. Best way to find out is ask!

How it works
It’s simple really. And that’s the way we like to keep things for our customers, simple and hastle free. Just follow the process below.
Tell us what you need done
Just give us a call or send us a message through Facebook or the form on this site and let us know what you need to move, where from and where to.
We quote in advance
Our rates are calculated partly on distance and partly on time. We use Google maps to find the distance between the pickup and delivery points so we can quote in advance. So usually you will know in advance what the job will cost. Sometimes there might be a possible variable in the cost if we can’t be certain how long the job will take but usually you will know. We collect and deliver your goods
We collect and deliver your goods as agreed and of course we take the greatest care. Because our vehicles are operated by a single driver, if any of the items are a two man lift then you may need to provide assistance to load and unload. If you can’t provide this assistance then we can arrange a second team member but will need to charge extra for this. Find out more about our rates here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I use Translocal and not just hire a trailer or a ute?
Because for shorter more local jobs we are usually less expensive than trailer or ute hire but even when we are not, you don't have the hassle of picking up and returning the trailer or ute. Plus you have our help to get the job done.
Do you only operate in Melton or do you service other areas?
We used to say that a job would need to start in, end in or pass through Melton but we will go outside our operating area if the customer is prepared to pay a little extra to cover the dead (unpaid) miles we would need to travel. The best way to find out is ask.
If I buy an item say, in the Facebook marketplace and hire Translocal to deliver it, can I get you to pay for the item and fix you up when you deliver?
Not yet! For the moment the purchase of the item is between you and the seller, we only deal with delivery. But we might have something in the pipeline. Watch this space.
What payment methods do you have?
Our drivers are equipped with mobile EFTPOS terminals which means you can pay using your credit or debit card or even with your mobile phone if you use Apple Pay or Google Pay. We also have the ability to send you an invoice by email which you can pay securely online from the comfort of your own computer or smart phone and of course we also accept cash.
